I could probably be considered a fanboy of Smashing Pumpkins, and still rank them at the top of my music list. But alas, I never bought their latest album. Maybe it’s because the Machina seemed a lot different than the glory days of Gish, Pisces Iscariot, and Mellon Collie. I think a large part may be because to legally get all of the songs on the new album required three distinct CDs that were exclusive to three distinct stores. Well, now I receive this in a newsletter:
The Smashing Pumpkins’ Zeitgeist with full-length DVD documentary titled Inside The Zeitgeist is for sale at Best Buys TODAY!
Also included on the disc are 3 bonus tracks, included an un-released song titled Ma Belle. The other songs included are Stellar and Death From Above.
This special version of Zeitgeist features an all new metallic silver color scheme as well.
The Zeitgeist re-release will be sold exclusively at Best Buy stores.
Ummm, yeah. You’re great and all, but had I been a good little consumerist I already would have bought three CDs, downloaded the tracks on ITunes, and now I’m supposed to buy yet another set at Best Buy, and only at Best Buy? What the f? Contrast this with groups like Radiohead offering their album online essentially for free (taking donations, optionally), and what have you?
