It’s been awhile!

A recent article by Infoworld’s Tom Yager has a great quote:

But for our sake and the sake of those who might want to know something about us after we’re gone, perhaps we should take pictures as if we’re on our last roll of film, and write like we’re using our last sheet of paper.

His editorial is good, too. Technology has given us instantly available photos and video. Instead of being limited by the number of photos on the roll of film, we can delete mistakes, or fill up the whole 1GB memory card with every second captured. Have we lost that touch where we took the time to make sure the shot captured a specific memory? If you can, check out the article. I do think there’s something to be had in shuffling through an old album or shoe box of photos rather than scrolling the mouse on the computer.

Via an article in today’s LSJ, I came across HolidayLEDs.com. Based out of Jackson, MI, they sell Christmas lights that use LEDs instead of regular bulbs. What a genius idea! Lights that use less power, don’t get hot, and last longer (no more burned out bulbs?!?). Maybe we should try some out?

Finally, somewhere between recent weddings and finally getting all my old MP3s compiled onto one file server, I stumbled across some old songs I’d forgotten about. I have to say that the Canadian Brass‘ version of Pachelbel’s Canon in D is awesome. I can’t find a link to the full song online (Amazon has it to download), but of course YouTube has a video of a performance. Every song is better with brass instruments :-) . Is digging through an old MP3 collection akin to digging through an old record collection?
