At some point in the past couple of days my Wordpress crapped the f- out. I first noticed yesterday morning that my blog “aggregation” on the FT homepage was broken for my blog. Stupid MagpieRSS and it’s lame, uninformative errors. So maybe there was a problem with the RSS feeds….I had just added a couple new posts, maybe something in there was borked.
The feed validated, though, and my own blog page came up just fine. The error seemed to be coming from the built-in “wp-cache” thing that’s supposed to speed things up when loading the blog, so I disabled that within the control panel. I pored through the code for a couple hours last night but didn’t get any further, so I posted in some help forums and hoped maybe it would clean itself up.
Now this morning everything was hosed. The same error was still on the FT page about the RSS feed, but now my blog wouldn’t load and it was giving the same mess of an error message. Still problems with this “wp-cache” thing.
I finally found a place that mentioned some code to comment out, and that seems to have done the trick. Net result? I lost the last few comments posted (two by myself) plus I think the Google post I did is an earlier revision than what I had. If it’s all database driven, I don’t know how it lost the stupid things. Am I pissed? Yes. Stupid computers, right? Bah!
