I saw an LSJ article this morning about a computer engineering student at MSU that has put together a cool new website, SpartyLive.com. It’s a Google Maps/Earth mashup that zooms to any of the landmarks on campus. You select any place on campus, and it shows where it is. It also has overlays for other things like Sparty’s, Parking, MSUFCU ATM’s, etc. Plus, it even has overlays for CATA bus routes. According to the article, next on the development list is real time tracking of CATA’s buses.

As a fellow computer guy, this is pretty sweet. Too bad Google mashups with maps and things weren’t quite around when I was in school! I can imagine this site would have been very helpful as a freshman, though, and will probably help out a lot of people from here on out.

Something else I came across the other day was a free, open source scriptwriting software called celtx. For those budding screenwriters out there, this looks sharp. I’ve got some ideas bouncing around, and I have to dig way back to remember some basics from the one screenwriting class I took, but I will have to play with it some more. So far it seems promising. Enjoy!
